Silencer cleaning
I bought a silencer as soon as our legislation allowed it. I didn't want itfor the sake of "shooting quietly" with subsonic ammunition, but mainly for myhearing and for my dog who has taken a lot of those shots.
I have to say that I am completely satisfied with the silencer. The shot whenhunting is tolerable for me (you wouldn't think 30 dB would make that muchdifference), the accuracy of the shot is the same or better, and the recoil ismuch less.
After a while, I found that the silencer would need to be cleanedoccasionally.
There are three different products available:
- Ballistol https://www.strobl.cz/cistic-tlumicu-ballistol-500ml_p9435
- Schletek'sRegular version https://www.strobl.cz/schletek-muffer-silencer-cleaner-regular-500-ml_p10598
- andSchletek's Evolution version https://www.strobl.cz/schletek-muffer-silencer-cleaner-evo-500-ml_p10599.
- To seal the end of the silencer I used rubber plugs from Ballistol https://www.strobl.cz/gumove-zatky-3-ks_p9438
- Ifilled the silencer with cleaner and let it sit for 30 minutes. You need to dothis somewhere in a garage or workshop as the cleaner contains ammonia anddoesn't smell very "nice".
- After 30 minutes I poured the black and purpleliquid out of the silencer.
- Then just rinse the silencer with lukewarm water, finish cleaning and dry. I lubricated the threads of the silencer with BallistolVaseline https://www.strobl.cz/vazelina-ballistol-vaseline-weapongrease-70g_p3896
I used about 1/3 of the bottle per cleaning and the result wasperfect.
